Nung-Yao Lin

Dr. Nung-Yao Lin holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University. His primary research focuses on enabling scholars to analyze texts using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). By developing user-friendly GIS tools, Dr. Lin significantly lowers the technical barriers for humanities scholars, allowing them to spatialize and analyze their data with greater ease. His work has been presented at prominent conferences such as DADH (Digital Archives and Digital Humanities).

Dr. Lin’s latest GIS system not only supports text-based data but also integrates timelines and generative AI. This innovation enables humanities scholars to quickly transform textual data into spatial maps for observation and analysis. Furthermore, it facilitates parallel reading of texts, where spatial analysis is complemented by temporal context. By incorporating AI, the system provides advanced tools for spatial text analysis and visualization, offering new insights for researchers in the humanities.
