Leuven.AI is organized a research symposium on AI applications in the Digital Humanities, as part of the European AI Week 2023. This event, at the intersection of AI and digital humanities, looks at AI tools and how they are used to better understand or reconstruct historical phenomena and dynamics. Professor De Weerdt gave a talk titled "Entity recognition and machine learning for East Asian history".

She also took part on a panel discussion titled "Common data sources and formats in the humanities - challenges and opportunities for interdisciplinary AI research", alongside Violet Soen, Mark Depauw, and Bart Thijs. The discussion was moderated by Tim Van de Cruys.
