In the March 19 reading seminar, participants discussed Jinping Wang's article, "Textual, Material, Visual: Exploring an Epigraphic Approach to the History of Imperial China". The group discussed topics such as the unique value of stele materiality and visibility for studying rural social structure in northern China, the communicative function of steles for illiterate residents, and the regional characteristics of stele inscriptions in northern Chinese provinces.

The topic and reading materials were suggested by Wing Yin (Marco) See, and the meeting was moderated by Dr. Sunkyu Lee.
