Yating Guo is currently an intern on a research project focusing on infrastructures in Qing Dynasty China, with particular attention to city wall construction and related engineering systems.
Dr. Sunkyu Lee presented her paper titled Mapping City Walls and Making Urban Space in Ming-Qing China at the Between the Land and the Word: Place-Making as a Mode of Knowing in Late Imperial China panel of the Annual Conference of the Association for Asian Studies in Vancouver on March 14, 2026.
On 5 February, Prof. Hilde De Weerdt, Dr. Sunkyu Lee, and Dawn Zhuang will present a workshop titled "Semantic Image Annotation for Art Historians" for the KU Leuven Art History Research Group.
Emily Teo is a historian of Sino-European cultural interconnections. Her research interests are in travel accounts, material culture and histories of museums. She take a source-driven approach to historical research, allowing new perspectives to emerge from the close study of texts and objects.
