Pascal van der Bij

Pascal van der Bij (22/10/2002) joined the University of Freiburg in 2015 and KU Leuven in 2021. With a strong background in earth and life sciences, languages, and history, he will annotate maps of city walls in County Level Local Gazetteers of Shanxi and Fujian provinces during the Ming and Qing periods.

His expertise includes Classical Chinese, geospatial data analysis and GIS mapping and he will aid in creating a spatial and multimodal analysis platform. At KU Leuven, he has worked on paleontology, microbiology, atmospheric science, and geochemistry to gain a broad perspective on the relationship between earth and life especially in an Antarctic environment.
